Philosophy

Procover was an outgrowth of my experience serving on a large law firm’s risk management committee, which encompassed insurance. Professional liability insurance was our third largest expense after employee compensation and rent. For what we were paying, I thought we should be receiving more.

The first step in providing more is philosophical; it involves re-conceptualizing the broker’s role as an insurance counselor, rather than someone who simply procures a policy. Brokering is more than fielding quotes. It involves discerning and explaining the often subtle differences between policy forms and providing thoughtful advice about the relative merits of each option in light of the particular attributes of the firm.

The next step is providing better education and support. This includes an in-depth quarterly newsletter addressing risk-management issues for law firms, as well as educational seminars. We also provide claim assistance when requested.

The last step is better communication. We’ve all had the experience of only hearing from the insurance broker once a year at renewal time–that’s not us. You’ll hear from us regularly through our educational outreach and the occasional call to check in.

We hope you appreciate the Procover difference.
